I didn't receive my confirmation email

first make sure you used the right email address!!

some mail servers use filters designed to stop spam (unwanted emails) - these filters can sometimes block mail you don't really want to be blocked, and if this is the case you won't ever get our mail! - if you know how to do it, you might want to check your email filters and bulk mail folder and add us to your white lists - if you don't know how to do this then click below for more help:

is your isp blocking our email? - click here

it says 'sorry, we don't recognise that email address'

first make sure you used the right email address!!

did you change your email address with the control panel since you registered?

have you registered more than one account with us with 2 different email addresses - and then deleted one of them?

it says 'sorry, that's not the password we have on our database'

click the link that says 'i lost my password' and request your password be mailed to you. make sure you are typing your password in exactly as it appears (copy and paste it to be sure)

remember that passwords are 'case sensitive', so make sure the CAPS key is not stuck on when you're typing

when I click on the cards they don't turn over

we use a little bit of Javascript to flip the cards which should work with virtually everybody's computer, but if your browser is very very old then you may need to update it.

some browsers don't allow javascript, but usually, if your browser is fairly recent, then the likely problem is that javascript has been disabled

click here for instructions on how to enable javascript on your browser

to check your browser version, click on 'help' then 'about' of your browser's menu bar (not the site menu bar!). if you are using a version older than v.4 then you should really consider updating ... you're missing out on a lot of the snazzy stuff on most web pages!

click here to update netscape navigator

when I click on the get reading button, nothing happens

this does sometimes happen, although we don't exactly know why! the buttons used on the site are simple form submit buttons and should be compatible with everyone's computer and setup.

try refreshing the page

if the problem persists and you get this problem on other sites, there could be a problem with your browser, so try updating it (see above)

i logged in but keep getting sent back to the login screen!

this is quite a common problem and means your computer is refusing our 'session cookie'

a session cookie is a harmless text file placed on your computer by lotus tarot to keep your login information available, so each time you click to a new page you don't have to log in again. the cookie is deleted from your computer when you close the browser, or within a certain time limit - usually 10 minutes to 1 hour.

without the session cookie, it is impossible to use the website automated readings

programs on your computer that can interfere or block the session cookie include personal firewalls (like Norton Internet Security/Zone Alarm/McAffee), network firewalls that may be installed at your workplace, or firewalls in routers and modems that connect you to the internet.

also, there are a great number of independent 'security' programs out there that can have the same effect

it could also be one of the many 'pop-up' blockers that come installed on many toolbars like yahoo, google, aol, alexa etc

because of the variety of possibilities, it is impossible for us to tell you exactly what to do to solve this problem, but it is without question a session cookie problem

Potential Solutions:

first try temporarily disabling your firewalls and pop-up blockers to see if that is the cause, and if it is, then you should be able to easily customize the software to allow Lotus Tarot.

If you like, you can disable everything, and then re-enable all the security one by one until you find the culprit - some software won't allow you to customize it, so the only solution is to remove it and find an alternative - blocked session cookies will stop you accessing a great number of websites

If this is not the problem, then you may need to enable session cookies in your browser

to enable 'session' cookies (those that are automatically deleted once you leave the site) click here for detailed instructions

if your browser is refusing session cookies, then you will experience similar login problems with other websites. for example, here is what PayPal (one of the world's largest and most visited websites) has to say about the issue ... you may find a solution here too:

"Why am I continuously being asked to login or to repeat the sign up page?

If you are continuously being asked to log into your account or to repeat the sign-up page, you will need to enable session cookies. To do so, follow these steps:

For Internet Explorer 5.5 and below:

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel
Double-click Internet Options
Select the Security tab
Click Custom Level
Scroll to the prompt Allow per-session cookies
Select Enable and click OK to save your changes
Click OK

For Internet Explorer 6.0:

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel (or Click Start, then Control Panel for Windows XP)
Double-click Internet Options
Select Privacy
Click Advanced
Check the box that reads "Override automatic cookie handling"
Check the box that reads "Always allow session cookies"
Click OK

If you continue to experience problems logging into PayPal, follow these steps:

Click Start
Go to Settings and click Control Panel
Click the Internet Options icon
Click Content
Scroll down and click Auto Complete
Click Clear Passwords and Clear Forms
Click General
Click Settings located in the middle of the screen
Click View Files on the bottom of the page
Select all of the items by going to Edit and then click Select All
Press Delete key on your keyboard
Close all windows by clicking OK

If this does not resolve the issue, you will need to upgrade your browser."

You can also try deleting all cookies from your computer, and even re-installing your browser, however, in my experience, it's almost always a security program on your computer or a firewall on your network which is interfering with your browser settings, and as frustrating as this is, for us as well as you, there is absolutely nothing we can do about it from our end :-(

pages and new windows are not opening when I click on the links

this is probably due to some pop-up blocker software on your computer.

some pop-up blockers, like google bar for example, will prevent any new window from opening, even if it is from a legitimate link that you click on yourself.

you should be able to easily customize your popup software to allow all 'popups' on Lotus Tarot (we don't use any pop-up advertising, so you don't need to worry about that).

if your software isn't customizeable, then perhaps you need another program ... google bar is highly recommended.

the cards don't appear on the choose cards page

if you can't see any card backs on the choose cards page, then it's possible that your browser just missed loading one of the images.

right-click on the empty space and select show picture - they should then appear

if you only see a solid black rectangle, then again it's a browser problem, but I haven't yet been able to make this happen on my own computer, so I don't know how to fix it!! even so, you can still choose cards by clicking at different places on the black rectangle(s) and then clicking the 'get reading button'

I want to change my registered email address

To change your registered email address, or any of your personal details, just log in to the readings section of the site and choose the menu item 'my control panel'

DO NOT simply register again with your new email, as this will create a second account on the database, which will not give you access to your old account, your saved readings, or the members area if you are a paying member
